ReplyDeleteThe controversial New Deal is viewed as a success by some historians, and a failure by others. Personally, I feel the New Deal failed at making a lasting impression on the economy and fell sort of FDR's expectations for it. However, one cannot deny that it created between 1,400,000 and 3,300,000 jobs over a five year span. Despite this small success, it also put the government into serious debt in order to create these jobs and provide aid to many Americans. The New Deal proved to be a short term answer to the Depression because when it was scaled back in 1938, the unemployment rose from 7.7 million in 1937 to 10.4 million in 1938. While the new deal did some good for lifting America out of the depression, it was not the New Deal that was the economys savior, but rather World War II.
Some historians say the goals of the New Deal were never met. Some think it was a complete success because it created jobs. I think that no matter what the government did it could only last a short while. The new deal did help at the time but it didn't last very long. Since the government helped struggling families, it went into debt which didn't help the situation at all.
ReplyDeleteThe New Deal could be viewed as a success or a failure. It was a success because it created many jobs. It definitely helped the nation recover from its economic crisis. However, it did not last and according to critics it failed to reach its goals. It did not help the impoverished or redistribute income. The federal government was given too much power and the individual suffered.

ReplyDeleteThe New Deal was a success due to the fact that it helped many people get new jobs, especially the diverse ones such as women, African-Americans, Mexican-Americans, and even Native-Americans. It also helped labor unions when the Wagner Act was passed because it gave better working conditions and increased bargaining power for the workers. It was also a failure, since so much money was being wasted by the government just to try and help the needy. This put America in debt, which didn't help the nation at all.
ReplyDeleteI think that the New Deal was both a success and a failure for many reasons. It was a good thing because it provided jobs for people, taking many out of the financial crisis, and giving people aid while the economy resolved itself. But, then again, it didn't meet all the goals that it set out to, like redistributing money to all the classes. Also, the government then went into debt, and gained too much power. This left trouble for the people that the government was primarily trying to help.
ReplyDeletethe new deal was a success and a failure. the new deal is what gave jobs to 1,400,000 and 3,300,000 people in five years time. but it was the new deal that had placed America into serious dept. the unemployment rate also rose from 7.7 million (1937) to 10.4 million (1938. because of the new deal, the federal government had gained toomuch power. ww2 was the true solution to the economic crises and the end to the great depression.
ReplyDeleteThe New Deal by Roosevelt could be viewed as both a success and failure. Because of the President Roosevelt's newly formed associations that gave jobs to previously unemployeed Americans, the people had money and support until the economy went back up. The New Deal provided social security and well being services. Although to a great extent the New Deal was successful, it let the Federal Government have too much power over regulating the failing businesses. This uneven distribution of power broke the trust of the Americans and only helped the economy to a small extent.
ReplyDeleteThe new deal was both a success and a failure. It did lessen the blow of the Great Depression, however it did not quite end it as FDR was hoping. It created many jobs for many people, but put the U.S. into large debt in order to create these jobs. The New Deal was successful, because for a short amount of time it helped in the Great Depression. It was unsuccessful because it wasn't until WWII that the Great Depression ended.
ReplyDeleteThe New Deal was successful in some ways but also could be considered a failure in other ways. One way in which The New Deal helped was by giving unemployed people jobs so that they were supported while the economy became healthy again. Also, for some time it did help with the Great Depression through social security and well being services. However, the government was even more in debt after creating jobs out of nowhere and paying people money they did not actually have. Because of this, the Great Depression did not really end until WWII.
ReplyDeleteThe New Deal was successful in many ways, it created many jobs which in affect (obviously) brought the employment rate in America down. It is best shown when FDR is forced to end the New Deal, shortly after the unemployment numbers had gone up. People actually felt they were coming out of the depression, just to be disapointed by their president for something he didn't want to do. It didn't work in the eyes of those who thought it didn't complete all its goals. Those same people said it created more problems than it solved; such as, a great increase in government activity taking away many of the freedoms of the people.
ReplyDeleteThe New Deal, although it offered Americans jobs, food, money, and hope, gave the federal government the power to shape the economy. Agencies were created to regulate banking and investment activities; the government tried to control supply and demand, and management disputes. The New Deal did not solve the economic crisis, but it was an immense help to all Americans, despite the affect it had on the government.
