Lab Work: Part D: Analysis

Today we are in the lab to work on Part D of your IA: Analysis.

The analysis portion will probably be the most familiar part of the IA in that you are being asked to do something you do with every history paper: Make an argument about your topic that can be supported by the facts in your summary of evidence.

Your arguments will vary; some of you may disagree with a common interpretation of an event, "It can be argued that the Bay of Pigs Invasion was actually a success when measured by x, x, and x."

Some of you may compare and contrast different historical interpretations (your source) of an event: "While Hieser argues that Sturgis was founded with an emphasis on global education, Andre presents evidence that Sturgis was established to provide an alternative to the local public school."

Some of you may have a more traditional thesis (no example needed- you do this probably 3x a week!).

Head over to the link on the left (Spring IA Guidelines) where there is more info about Part D. We will go through it together; then you will have time to work.

Lab work: Summary of Evidence DAY 2

Hi Sophomores,

I am home sick, but everyone did a wonderful job working independently on their IA Part B: Summary of Evidence yesterday. Today is the LAST day we will have to work on it in school. It is due this Friday.

Another reminder: A few of you have mentioned that you are still trying to find sources and doing research. I recommend that you move past that stage and start your summary of evidence.

HW tonight will also be up on my website. It is basically an outline of the info in your textbook on the Berlin Airlift. We will be back in the classroom tomorrow.

Email me if you have q's.
